Juniper 1920
The distillation of juniper brandy in 1920
This photo depicts the distillation of juniper brandy (known as brinjevec) at the landowner Skube's estate in the village of Adlešiči in the municipality of Črnomelj (26 August 1920). The forests of Bela Krajina used to be full of juniper berries, so many farms made an additional living by selling juniper brandy and essential juniper oil. The juniper berries were handpicked mostly by women.
